Little Dude is usually the first one to spot an empty box somewhere in the house. No matter where it is, he'll drag it to you, insist that you help him inside, and will start to chant "Dhabi" over and over until you start closing flaps over top of him.
See one time. ONE TIME. Daddy put Little Dude in a big empty diaper box and threatened to send him to Abu Dhabi. Well, now Dude WANTS to go to Abu Dhabi - regularly!

Easter Egg Hunting 101

STEP 1:
Check egg collection receptacle for light leaks or holes.

STEP 2:
Put on your game face.

STEP 3:
When the Easter Bunny gives the secret signal, run like the wind.

STEP 4:
Once as far away from mommy and daddy as possible, show some love to your droves of admiring fans who came to see you (and only you) collect eggs.

STEP 5:
Pretend like you have no clue what you're doing so the nice helpers feel like they're accomplishing something.

STEP 6:
Once nice helper turns her back, hoard candy and eggs like it's the End of Days!

STEP 7:
Do not appear too greedy. Every so often place a piece of candy in another competitor's basket as to not give away your collecting awesome-ness.

STEP 8:
Once you have a satisfactory amount of loot, show off the spoils of your labor (but try not to brag about your awesome-ness too much).

Finished for Friday

I started working on Dude's room the weekend that my foot got broken, so I didn't exactly get to "finish" it, so I was feeling a little bit better the beginning of this week and thought I would finish it up for this week's Finished for Friday. The 12 x12 squares with the pictures on them are what was finished from before the foot incident, the shaped figures and hanging up the set of 4 12x12 is what I finished for this week. My son's room is officially Pooh-ified! Even his crib has Pooh bedding in it, but I couldn't get it at a good enough angle to get a picture of it - plus that really wasn't a "finish" anyways - it just matches is all!

The walls still seem so naked because I had to put these high enough on the wall that certain little Dudes couldn't reach them when in his crib and on the changing table!

I also finished the Twilight Saga (and incidentally started it again). See, I read them the first time by downloading them to my cell phone, which my mom thought for sure was going to cause me to go blind, so she bought me the first 2 books (Twilight & New Moon) in paperback, so I'm starting them over again so I can read them "normal sized".

The 'Big Girl' Bed

I can honestly say I wasn't exactly "ready" for Bug to move into a toddler bed from her crip - I mean it symbolizes she's growing up and I'm still not ok with that yet! However, with my newly aquired injury, I had been having a heck of a time lifting her in and out of her crib without tons of pain and I definitely did not want her learning how to climb out of her crib, so it was more out of my necessity for her being out of her crib than us being "ready" for that next step. I really didn't have any worries about Bug being ready for a "big girl" bed at all. Daddy and I had been asking her about it and getting her excited for one for about a week before we bought it, just so we weren't surprising her with something new and it scaring her (not that she gets scared of anything - ever). After we brought it home, Daddy put it together while Bug and Dude were napping. She was so excited to see it waiting for her in the living room when she woke up! She loves it and actually asks to go down for a nap and bed time now because she gets to go sleep in her big girl bed!!


We had a tiny issue the very first night at about 3 a.m. when she lost her blankets (onto the floor) and she woke up wanting to know where they were! It was so funny - no crying or anything, I just woke up to the sound of this teeny voice that kept saying "where's my Pooh blankie". I went in and covered her back up, tucked the ends in and she was good for the rest of the night and every night since!

What's really cute is that Bug still waits for me to tell her it's ok to get out of bed on her own and I don't need to come in and get her! I have to convince her every morning and after nap time that she can get up on her own.
The bed is a big hit with Dude too, luckily though not so much that he refuses to sleep in the crib in his room still. He just likes hanging out on it with his sister.

Easter dresses will be the death of me!

My theory is that I will dress my totally adorable daughter in totally adorable dresses and froo-froo her all up until she's old enough to fight back and tell me she doesn't want to wear them! Lucky for me she thinks she's a Disney Princess and thinks they're fabulous most days so I'm going to take advantage as much as I can - especially now that the weather is warming up a little.

It's funny that I do this to my poor little baby girl (*grin*), because I am NOT a froo-froo at all myself and didn't even like pink before I got pregnant with her and found out she was going to be a girl! As soon as that happened, it was like I was magically turned into Shelby from Steel Magnolias and my new favorite colors were blush & bashful!

Easter is always the best time to buy the froo-froos and I always wait until after Easter and buy a few sizes up for the following year and pay way less by getting them on clearance! Well this year, girl is HOOKED UP! She will be the froo-froo queen of the world! Don't even think I'm done either because Easter is this weekend so I will be hitting the sales again very soon! LOL!

I am a little excited for Easter this year too because this is the first year both kids are old (and mobile) enough to attemp the annual easter egg "hunt" in the park. I really hope they don't get mowed over by bigger kids is all! Dude could take them all I'm sure, the boy runs like Carl Lewis (he may be too busy running like the wind to pick up eggs though)! It's Buggy I'm a little worried about with so many people, but we'll see. I hope they have a good time.

Ouchie!

Sorry I've been away but it takes a lot of work to get to the computer "room" now.
Thanks to my darling husband, my foot is broken. It happened last weekend and it was an accident, so don't come tearing my door down to kick his ass or anything - that's already been taken care of! ;)

I just wanted to apologize for not keeping up with my Finished for Friday promise I made. I did get stuff done on the Friday before the breaking of the foot happened, and even accomplished a few tiny things this past Friday too, but just couldn't get to the computer to post them!

This has been absolutely the worst! I am so incredibly bored because I can't even do mundane stuff like laundry without my foot killing me. I'm in a walking "cast" (it's a giant boot really) that makes it impossible to walk from one end of the house to the other without tripping or twisting my leg a direction it's not supposed to go, etc. It's been really rough not being able to play with the kids normally, or go shopping, or even drive! I'm getting ZERO sleep at night because of the pain so work has been horrible because I'm so tired! The medication I'm on for pain makes me so sleepy too that I can't take it before work at all. I'm so tired at night (thanks to getting off work at 11:15 PM) that it takes every piece of strength I have (which isn't much) to not fall asleep behind the wheel. So far I've been lucky but I'm really nervous about driving when I'm so tired - I wish there was a way I didn't have to work so late or just not at all! Anyone know any good Power Ball lottery numbers?

So that's the update...nothing new but a broken foot and boredom setting in because of it. I have a followup X-ray on Tuesday to check to see if it's healing properly on its own or not so I'll know more then and try to update more often. It's just so damn painful to sit in this chair because there's nowhere to elevate the tree trunk on my foot to keep the pain down!
